Well here we are off on another adventure. This time it is the Danube. The plan is to cycle it from the source in Donaueschingen Germany following it thru Germany Austria, Hungary and possibly Romania. It is doubtful that we will get all the way to the Black Sea but we will see what happens. Right now the plan is to follow the river SE until we run out of time or hear the sounds of gunfire. Then catch the train back to Frankfurt for the flt home Oct. 09.
Jim and Susan Allman are travelling with us again which adds to the pleasure of the experience.
We spent the day having a look at old town Frankfurt and successfully did a dry run on our train connections for tomorrow.
Germany, first impressions.......humm, interesting how the comparisons seem to naturally occur as much for Argentina/Chile as to Canada.
-much more smoking, particularly public places
-haven't seen a dog yet, hence no dog shit, Yeah!
-first impression is $$$ are higher, 20-30%???
-taxi driver all think they are race car drivers,
I always feel it is important to establish some cultural goals on our trips. This trip I vow to eat one of; Schnitzel, sausage or Strudel each day. On some days I may attempt all three, I think it is important to expand our perspective in other cultures and possibly also my waistline. To day was Sausage and Schnitzel, there was no Strudel on the menu this evening.
At the bottom of the page you will see a pencil symbol, poke this and you can drop us a note. It is always nice to hear from folks.
